My Current Coffee Favorites as a Stay-at-Home Mom
Haylee (Daughter)
My husband and I were talking the other day about our first memory of drinking coffee. It’s funny, because I can remember exactly where I was – my grandparents’ house. We were living with them at the time, so I had to be like 7 or 8 years old. I distinctly remember my mom or my grandma telling me that drinking coffee would “stunt my growth”. At that age, I was basically a foot taller than all of my classmates and friends, so I welcomed coffee with open arms.
Coffee has been a part of my life since I can remember. Maybe not with me drinking it directly, but it was, and still is, a staple in my house. Now, I definitely wouldn’t call myself a “coffee snob”. I am not ashamed to say I buy Great Value Coffee most of the time, but I have fine tuned my cozy morning routine, especially as a mom, so I figured I’d share some of my current coffee faves!
1) The Ninja Coffee Bar
I feel like there are Breville girlies, and then there are Ninja girlies. I am definitely a Ninja girlie. I’m simple, so I don’t always need espresso. Sometimes – most of the time – just a regular, classic cup of coffee does the trick. I love the Ninja Coffee Bar because it gives me options. Not only can I make a pot of coffee, but I can make a latte too. Iced coffee? No problem. Milk frother? It’s got it! It’s versatile, meets my coffee needs, and the best part? I can set a timer for it to brew. I can wake up, walk downstairs, and have coffee waiting for me. It’s amazing.
2) Homemade Syrups

If your social media algorithm includes coffee content, I’m sure you’ve seen someone posting their homemade syrup recipes. They are way more simple to make than I think most people realize, they have way less ingredients, and they usually don’t cost an arm and a leg to make. In this economy, that means something! I typically have Strawberry, Lavender, and some sort of seasonal flavor on tap, and while I don’t always add sweetener to my coffee, it’s nice to have them ready to go. I usually just put mine in mason jars, but I’ve been eyeballing these dispensers for a little while, so that might change soon!
3) A Favorite Coffee Mug
I am a sucker for cute coffee mugs (my husband says I have a problem), especially ones that are big and/or match the season. Despite it being April, I am still enjoying my coffee out of a Valentine’s Day mug I bought from Walmart at the end of January. Honestly, it’s just something so simple that brings me joy in the morning. My husband’s coffee cup is actually pretty cool. It’s super similar to one he got as a gift from our best friends that unfortunately got knocked off the table by our massive and not so smart shepherd. It doubles as a hand warmer! He has circulation issues, so having that warm sensation on his fingers first thing in the morning is a game changer for him.
4) French Press
On days where we’re feeling fancy, we’re enjoying the slowness of the day, or it’s cloudy and we’re just trying to conserve power (we’re on solar), having a french press is great. You heat your water, add it to the coffee in your press, and about 4-5 minutes later you’re enjoying a great cup of joe. We try to avoid plastics when we can, so this stainless steel one has been great to us, especially because it’s so easy to clean. Is it a little time consuming? Sure, but it really doesn’t take that long. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s faster than my coffee pot – I just can’t set a timer on the french press.
I’d love to know your coffee routine. What are your favorite things to use or add? How do you keep your mornings special to kick off your day right? I’m that person who can drink coffee at any time of day and not have my sleep affected. Coffee is more of my emotional support drink, if you will. What kind of coffee drinker are you?
