It’s Not Technology I Fear—It’s the Possibility of Failing

People often assume that learning new technology is difficult because it’s complicated.
For me, that was never the real obstacle.
I’ve never been afraid of learning something new. In fact, I’ve always enjoyed challenging myself. Throughout my life, I’ve adapted to new jobs, overcome health battles, and learned skills I never imagined I’d need.
What overwhelmed me wasn’t artificial intelligence, social media, or the latest technology.
It was the possibility of failing.
What if I spent months learning and nothing came of it?
What if I poured my heart into building a website that no one visited?
What if I created Pinterest pins, wrote blog posts, made Amazon videos, and never earned a dollar?
Those thoughts can stop you before you even begin.
As a two-time cancer survivor, I’ve learned that life is too precious to let fear make my decisions. I don’t want to look back years from now wondering what might have happened if I had simply tried.
That’s one of the reasons I started Mind Body Soul Renew.
I wanted a place where I could share my experiences, encourage others, and challenge myself to keep growing. Along the way, I discovered opportunities like affiliate marketing, the Amazon Influencer Program, Pinterest, self-publishing, and AI-powered tools that make creating content more accessible than ever.
But my reasons go much deeper than building a website or creating another source of income.
I also wanted to create something that could keep me connected to my daughters and, hopefully, provide them with tools that could give them more choices, financial independence, and security in their own lives.
After coming so close to losing my daughter, Haylee, I was reminded just how fragile life can be. Watching someone you love face challenges that could potentially limit their opportunities changes your perspective. It made me realize that if I could learn new skills, build something meaningful, and create additional streams of income, maybe I could help provide a little more stability—not just for myself, but for the people I love most.
That realization gave this journey an entirely new purpose.
- Do I know exactly where this journey will lead? No.
- Will every idea succeed? Probably not.
But I’ve realized something that has completely changed my perspective.
Failure isn’t the opposite of success.
It’s part of learning.
Every blog post teaches me to become a better writer.
Every Pinterest pin teaches me what captures someone’s attention.
Every Amazon review teaches me how to communicate more clearly.
Every AI tool teaches me a faster, smarter, or more creative way to work.
Every mistake teaches me something I didn’t know the day before.
My goal isn’t to become an overnight success.
My goal is to keep learning.
To keep creating.
To keep showing up.
Of course, I’d love to earn extra income through Amazon and the work I’m putting into this website. That financial freedom would mean so much—not because I want more things, but because I want more choices. More security. More freedom to spend time with the people I love. More opportunities to help my daughters build lives with fewer limitations than they may have imagined.
If this journey eventually inspires someone else to take a chance on themselves, that would be one of the greatest rewards of all.
If you’re standing on the edge of something new, wondering if you’re capable, I hope you’ll take the first step anyway.
You don’t have to believe you’ll succeed.
You only have to believe you’re willing to learn.
Sometimes that’s enough to change the course of your life.
And if you fail?
Learn from it. Adjust. Keep going.
Because the only guaranteed failure is never giving yourself the chance to begin.
